IMCMS®

With the aid of mine hunting sonars such as the hull-mounted sonar HMS-12M or the AUV-based synthetic aperture sonar MCMSAS, threat objects can be detected and classified, no matter whether they are positioned on the seabed or in the water column. Once detected, the threat object will be identified and cleared by means of the expendable mine disposal system SeaFox.

Besides mine hunting, the other main mine countermeasure technique is called influence mine sweeping. By modelling the target ship’s magnetic and acoustic character, this method simulates its signature. ATLAS ARCIMS combines the simulation sweeping capability with a remote-controlled unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in order to trigger the mine at a safe distance to the crew and the MCM platform.

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK has been setting the standard in this field and is the only company in the world which is able to develop and manufacture all of these capabilities from a single source.

A perfectly matched system with all the products from a single source – ATLAS ELEKTRONIK

Main Features

IMCMS Mission Module

In order to also equip ships operating outside their own waters with an initial capability for mine countermeasures, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK has developed a mission module derived from the IMCMS. The IMCMSM System can be deployed from non-specialised platforms and from the shore as well. With the shift in threat from a comprehensive global conflict to small-scale regional crises, requiring power projection from the sea off a foreign coast, naval forces are enhancing their MCM capabilities in order to support initial MCM operations through so-called mission modules. Such solutions enable the MCM assets to conduct MCM operations even if dedicated and highly specialised MCM forces are not in theatre. MCM mission modules make use of off-board sensors and effectors providing high operational performance combined with minimised direct exposure of the crew and platform to the mine threat.

ATLAS IMCMS Mission Module

The core component of this mobile MCM System is a containerised Combat Information Centre, which forms the framework for the various MCM assets to be integrated inside. Depending on the specific operational requirement and host platform infrastructure, it can be supplemented with a variety of elements, such as the AUV SeaCat with Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) for the autonomous detection and classification of objects, the expendable mine disposal system SeaFox, or the remote influence mine sweeping system ARCIMS.
